A redesign and development of an old and outdated WP website. Navigation on the old site was confusing with many hidden and hard-to-find pages. The new site is user-friendly, faster, and updated.
Project Summary
This was a full redesign and for a NJ drug and alcohol prevention website and nonprofit agency that was over ten years old. The original site had been built on WordPress, but the server was running an outdated version of PHP. The old site also had many components and plugins that were no longer supported in the WP repository. The server was upgraded and a new site was completely built on a staging platform and then migrated over.

Strategy
I built the new website on a staging platform on my own server. The site was rebuilt with navigation in mind for a more intuitive and user-friendly experience. SEO was infused on each and every page, something that was missing entirely from the old site. Once the new site was mostly complete, I updated the PHP on the client’s server in order to handle the newer WP CMS system and migrated the site over, keeping a copy of the old site on the server.
UX Design
Divi was used to create a custom UX design through the theme builder. An easy-to-use navigation system was put into place and a proper hierarchy of information was created to sort articles and categories.
Visual Design
Divi was the theme used to customize the look. I used the original color palette from the former site in a slightly muted tone.
